Consult Orders

When the Consult Note is associated to the Consult order and signed, it will complete the consult order.

The care team is not automatically removed from the patient; the providers will need to remove their care team from the patient. So once they have completed the consult, the patient will stay on their care team and they can also assign themselves to the patient so they can continue to follow the patient.

There are Consult system lists for each Consult specialty for each location.  When a consult order is placed the patient will show on the list. Providers will be educated to add the lists to their My Patients.

Workflows:

(1) If a provider is listed in the “to” field, then they should always get a push notification.
o If folks are still running into cases where a push notification doesn’t happen, then we need to have the example to investigate.
(2) If the providers Sign In to the team, then they will get push notifications if the team is selected in the consult order.
o They should sign into the team on the days they are covering if they want push notifications.
(3) We made a change this week to allow folks to toggle these push notifications on/off on their device. They just need to go into the notification settings of the app, and now they can toggle “Consult Notification” on/off.
o It is by default on.
(4) At the community hospitals, the consult order creates a task for the unit coordinator to call the provider.

Order Transmittal Rules

201- Consult Transmittal

124- Paging and Haiku notifications.

ED has separate rule from (1) Facility rule. They use rule 16000.

Finding independent Providers

When placing a consult order, providers need to be able to choose independent providers by name. If a clinician cannot find the provider in the “to” field of a consult order, select the “Override Restrictions” button, and then search again.

Notifications

At CMC the go to both Haiku and paging. At community hospitals, they go to Haiku.
